WORKING AGREEMENT FOR COUNSELLING & PSYCHOTHERAPY
The purpose of the working contract is to establish an agreement regarding the practical, therapeutic and ethical considerations of our relationship.
This contract commences on the date that you receive it and agree to it and will be reviewed if the need arises.
Sessions take place at _________ on ____________. The therapeutic session lasts for 50 minutes. Please allow for up to an hour of your time in total.
Please do not arrive at the address more than five minutes before the scheduled start time of your session. This is to ensure the anonymity of my clients. The therapy takes place within my home and so there is no waiting room or reception.
Our Therapeutic Working Relationship
Both the client and counsellor will share the goal of facilitating your personal growth.
I, the counsellor, commit to:
- Being present and genuine with you during sessions.
- Holding your wellbeing at the centre of our work.
- Listening with compassion, honesty and respect.
- Working in line with UKCP professional and ethical standards.
I invite you, the client, to:
- Attend sessions with commitment to your wellbeing and your therapeutic process.
- Share if you feel unsafe or overwhelmed in a session so we can work together to re-establish support and holding.
Confidentiality:
- Nothing you say will be passed on, except within clinical supervision, where your identity will be kept private.
- The counsellor will need to breach confidentiality if they believe that the client may harm themselves or others, by contacting 999, the client’s GP, or their local mental health crisis team. This may be done without the client’s permission, depending on the urgency and nature of the case.
Etiquette:
- Neither counsellor nor client will attend counselling sessions under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.
- If they encounter each other outside of the therapy room, the counsellor and client will keep communication brief and not mention anything pertaining to their counselling relationship.
Fees:
Session fees are £50 per hour. Fees are reviewed periodically and any changes may apply to existing contracts. This is at the counsellor’s discretion but notice of at least one month will be given.
Please pay at least 6 hours in advance of the session to:
Mrs Amy Gethings
Halifax
11-13-90 10661568
Lateness & Cancellations:
- If the client arrives late to a session, or does not attend, the counsellor can retain the full fee for the session.
- You must notify me by telephone (text, call or voicemail) if you are going to be unexpectedly late to a session.
- Both client and counsellor will issue a minimum of 24 hours’ notice if a session must be cancelled, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
- If the counsellor cancels the session, you will be refunded regardless of when I notify you of the cancellation.
- If the client cancels the session more than 24 hours before it is due to take place, the counsellor will either refund any payment for that session or rearrange the session by mutual agreement for no further fee.
- If the client cancels the session within 24 hours before it is due to take place, the counsellor will usually retain the payment for that session but may allow the client to rearrange the session for no further fee.
I look forward to working with you.
